Case Study: Moving a San Jose Traffic Signal Contractor's Yard, Warehouse and Office

Named with the client. Ontrack moved Cal-West Lighting & Signal across San Jose: light poles, traffic signal poles and cabinets, pipe, outdoor racks, the warehouse and the office, with a flatbed truck and forklifts at both sites. Items added after the survey stretched a four-day plan to six. Ontrack filled a 40-foot container with metal, made disposal runs and left the old yard broom-clean.

Case Study: Hoisting Biosafety Cabinets by Forklift for a Bay Area Biotech Lab

An anonymous Bay Area biotechnology company. Case Study: A South San Francisco Biotech Lab Moved to the Fifteenth Floor for Plasmidsaurus

A real commercial project, named with the client's permission. Plasmidsaurus, a DNA-sequencing biotech, relocated its lab and office inside its building at 2 Tower Place in South San Francisco, moving up to the 15th floor over two move days with a crew of eight and roughly 190 dolly loads. How Ontrack Moving ran it: two Oxford Nanopore PromethION sequencers moved only on request and only by the lead foreman on a padded instrument transport platform; sixteen Opentrons liquid-handling robots and fifteen lab refrigerators padded, kept upright, and moved in the team's own labeling order; lab benches rebuilt bench by bench on the new floor; three ROOM soundproof office phone booths disassembled, relocated, and reassembled; and the building certificate of insurance filed with primary and non-contributory general liability for Transwestern and the GNS Tower ownership before move day. The $10M combined business insurance stack is separate from basic $0.60 per pound per article equipment liability under the applicable moving agreement.

Case Study: A Contamination-Controlled Lab Move for Wild Type Foods in San Francisco

A real commercial project, named with the client's permission. Wild Type Foods, a San Francisco company that grows salmon from cells, moved its laboratory across Dogpatch into a new clean space under a decontamination protocol, over two days with a crew of thirteen and roughly 212 dolly loads. How Ontrack Moving ran it: an origin loading dock sitting on uneven ground, worked with a liftgate truck and a portable ramp so heavy equipment crossed level ground into the truck; seven biological safety cabinets moved upright, level, and braced; two autoclaves, two incubators, lab refrigeration, and twenty-five benchtop devices padded and crated; and a crew that gowned up in decontamination suits, shoe covers, hair covers, and safety glasses and stepped across a sole-decontamination mat to unload inside the controlled area. A real residential project, anonymized. A family was moving into a large home in Hillsborough, on the San Francisco Peninsula, and the brief was to handle the house carefully. Ontrack Moving relocated Aravo Solutions from the 12th floor of 88 Kearny Street into a WeWork suite at 580 California Street, two downtown Class A towers both managed by JLL, and ran the move, the decommission, warehouse storage of a set of desks, and a shipment to Texas as one project. How it ran: certificates of insurance, waivers of subrogation, and indemnity agreements cleared at both buildings before move day; an after-hours and weekend window the buildings required; a preparation day to take down wall-mounted TVs and cabinets and break down the cubicles; office layout mapping and a labeling system; reusable E-crates; two SFMTA permits; the freight-elevator funnel that set the pace; responsible recycling; and e-waste handling with certificates of destruction for the hard drives.

A U.S. Department of Defense contractor in the Bay Area needed a two-floor office cleared for renovation under the client's facility access protocol: a U.S.-citizen-only crew, daily check-in, and a single badge for the designated doors. Several other companies could not field enough citizen-status crew for this job. The scope included disassembly and disposal phased across five days, a color-label system sorting items into disposal, storage, and temporary-office streams, warehouse storage of the retained items, a phased temporary relocation with leadership moved first, and a stair-climbing dolly for heavy machinery.
