Asset-based, family-owned, and direct. No brokers, no subcontracting, no third-party handoffs.

Local moves are billed hourly. Long-distance moves are quoted at a binding flat rate on a per-truck basis, anchored to the inventory documented at the onsite survey. We do not charge by the pound or by the cubic foot.

Federally Verified

0% Federal Out-of-Service Rate under USDOT inspection. $10,000,000 Combined Protection Tower for building liability. Standard $0.60/lb cargo liability per article (FMCSA basic); additional valuation available.

Ontrack Moving® is an asset-based carrier under USDOT #2551548. Local moves are billed hourly based on crew size and truck requirements. Long-distance moves receive a binding flat-rate quote on a per-truck basis, anchored to the inventory and access conditions documented at the onsite survey. We do not charge by the pound or by the cubic foot. The flat-rate price stated in the proposal is the price billed at delivery, subject only to scope changes the customer requests in writing. No. Ontrack Moving® bills local moves on an hourly basis and long-distance moves at a binding flat rate quoted on a per-truck basis. We do not use weight-class or per-cubic-foot pricing structures. Per-pound and per-cubic-foot billing are common with broker-dispatched van-line networks and can result in surprise charges on move day when the truck is weighed. Ontrack pricing is anchored to the inventory and access conditions documented during the onsite survey, not to a weight reading at delivery.

Ontrack Moving® quotes long-distance moves on a per-truck basis. Each of our 26-foot trucks has a 26,000-pound GVW capacity. When the inventory documented at the onsite survey approaches that capacity, we quote a second truck in the original proposal rather than discover the issue on move day. Customers receive a written quote covering all trucks required to complete the move in one trip, with the binding flat-rate price tied to that truck count.

What to Look For in a Carrier's Record

  • Out-of-Service rate: Trucks pulled off the road by federal inspectors for mechanical failures, brake defects, or tire blowouts
  • Vehicle inspection failures: Worn-down equipment, broken lights, leaking fluids, and unsafe loads that put your belongings at risk of a roadside breakdown
  • Driver violations: Hours-of-Service (HOS) infractions mean fatigued drivers behind the wheel of a truck carrying everything you own
  • No operating authority: Brokers often have no USDOT number at all because they do not operate trucks
  • Bogus address: Look up their listed address on Google Maps. Many "movers" operate from apartments or P.O. boxes with no yard, no trucks, and no warehouse in sight

Why Our Rate Reflects the Real Cost of Moving

  • Maintained fleet: Routine DOT inspections, scheduled brake and tire service, and pre-trip checks on every truck before it leaves the yard
  • Trained, rested drivers: Strict HOS compliance so our drivers are never fatigued on the road. No shortcuts on rest periods
  • Workers compensation on every crew: If a mover gets injured on your job site, our policy covers it. Budget outfits often skip this entirely
  • $10M building liability on every move: Floors, elevators, door frames. Our COI is ready before your building manager asks
  • Real facilities you can visit: Our Hayward, CA headquarters and Peoria, AZ operations center have yards, trucks, and warehouses. Look us up on Google Maps

On moving day, your assigned crew arrives during your scheduled window, introduces themselves, and completes a walk-through of your home. They pad and wrap furniture, disassemble items as needed, and load everything onto our truck using floor runners and door frame protection. At your destination, the crew unloads, places furniture where you direct, and reassembles items. A foreman manages the entire process from start to finish.
